Feb. 23 - Colchester Half Marathon Completed!

Great day running in Colchester, hills and all.  As I indicated in my prior post, I was a little worried about the race given my very shaky preparation the day before.  I looked but couldn't find a sausage, egg and cheese McMuffin or tortilla chips on any pre-race diet planner.  However, the race worked out great!  Low winds, moderate temps (around 40 degrees), a nice group of runners and my wife and daughter cheering me on at the finish line made for a very nice day.  I wore my Race 4 Chase shirt and put out some flyers with the blog and Chase Fund info, and several people took an interest.  I also had a chat with the race director who was open to putting a link to blog on the Hartford Track Club website.

I hit the 200 mile mark near the end of the race.  The miles were sponsored by The Colegrove Family (miles 188-190), Sharon Christo MacEachem (191-195) and Vin Lyon-Callo (196-200).  Thanks all for your support.

I was surprised to feel pretty strong throughout the race.  I broke the race into three parts; the first 7 miles were for Chase, the next 3 for Steve and the last 3 for Becky.  I was a little conflicted during the last three because I felt pretty good and wanted to cut loose a little, but I heard Becky saying "you better not get hurt and get stuck on 200 miles for a month!"  So, probably like Chase, I listened...a little.
